Why Outsource MTD Work
MTD for Income Tax effectively turns one annual Self Assessment job into five touch points per client per year. Most practices cannot recruit fast enough to cover that increase. Outsourcing the bookkeeping and quarterly update workflow lets your team focus on advisory work, complex returns and client relationships.
How We Work With Your Firm
- Discovery call. We map your client base by MTD wave, current software mix, and where the workload actually bites — usually the lower-fee sole trader and landlord clients rather than your larger accounts.
- Pilot on 5–10 clients. We run a small batch end to end first, so you see the handover packs and quality of work before committing further, and we adjust the workflow to fit how your practice actually operates.
- Phased onboarding. Your wider portfolio moves across in batches rather than all at once, timed against each client’s MTD start date so nothing is rushed in the final weeks.
- Quarterly cadence. Once live, each ITSA client follows the same 7 August / 7 November / 7 February / 7 May rhythm, with our prepared figures handed to your team for review and sign-off before submission.
What a handover pack looks like
For every client we work on, you get a structured pack: the source records we worked from, the categorised figures submitted, any judgement calls we made and why, and an audit trail of the digital links from record to submission. It’s built to slot straight into your existing file review process rather than create extra work reconciling what we did.
Software we work with
We work across the HMRC-recognised software your clients already use, plus bridging software for clients on spreadsheets. Where a client has no strong preference, we can recommend software suited to their trade and record-keeping habits as part of onboarding — see our comparison of MTD software options.
