Where the HMRC MTD login is
There isn’t a separate “Making Tax Digital” website to log in to. You sign in to your HMRC personal tax account using your Government Gateway user ID and password:
This is the official HMRC login. Be careful only to use links on the genuine GOV.UK domain.
What you do once you're signed in
Inside your HMRC account you (or your agent) sign up for MTD for Income Tax and authorise your compatible software. From then on, the software talks to HMRC directly — you don’t log in to a portal to file each update.
Filing happens in your software, not the login
This is the key change under Making Tax Digital: your quarterly updates are submitted through MTD-compatible software, which connects to HMRC securely. The HMRC login is where you set things up and check your account — not where you type in your figures.
Can't log in, or need a hand?
You must set up your own personal tax account and Government Gateway — only you can do that — but we can guide you and then take over your MTD registration and filing. Call 0114 327 1480 or email shjenquiry@msc-g.com.
